From Publishers Weekly
Manhattan fitness trainer and wellness coach Kirsch (Sound Mind, Sound Body) has expertly sculpted the bodies of Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista and worked his fitness miracles on ABC's Extreme Makeover. Now he tends to readers seeking a fast way to slim down before that big wedding or bikini season. Normally, Hirsch says, he eschews "get fit quick" schemes, but he claims his combined focus on mind, body, nutrition and exercise will help followers shed unwanted pounds in just 14 days. Make no mistake, however: the regimen is strict ("when you are looking for extreme results you must make extreme sacrifices"), and one must be in fairly good shape even to attempt it (the author includes a pre-program to get readers ready). In addition to a rigorous, cardio-sculpting workout—90 minutes daily, using a stability ball, medicine ball and lightweight dumbbells (photos of the moves included)—Kirsch provides a nutrition plan that prohibits alcohol and limits carbs and unhealthy fats. For those who don't consider a protein shake a sufficient meal, he suggests "real food," such as egg whites, salad and lean proteins, and includes such tempting recipes as Roasted Red Pepper Frittata, Mediterranean Chicken Stir Fry, and Turkey and Spinach Burgers. Kirsch's plan requires "150 percent" commitment, but those desiring near-instant gratification will no doubt be rewarded. The real payoff, Hirsch concludes, is that by maintaining the basic principles even after the initial two weeks (though somewhat toning down the regimen), his followers will be healthy and trim for life. You don't need liposuction or plastic surgery to get a better body.
You need two weeks.
As the personal trainer and fitness guru of television's hit show "Extreme Makeover", David Kirsch has miraculously transformed bodies in a few short weeks. He's founded The Madison Square Club, one of New York's premier health clubs specializing in individualized training and nutritional counseling. He's also trained such celebrity clients as Liv Tyler and Faith Hill. So you've seen the results of his training. But if you think the only way to get a great body is through "extreme" surgery or starvation diets, think again.
Kirsch's revolutionary new two-week makeover, The Ultimate New York Body Plan, is the result of years of professional experience--combined with the extreme scheduling demands of TV's "Extreme Makeover" workouts. By crunching his famous six-week training course into a 14-day high-intensity program, Kirsch has streamlined his proven formula of proper nutrition and exercise to target the problem areas--and transform the body in the shortest time possible. In other words, anybody--even you--can slim down and shape up in just two weeks.
Sure, all the fad diets and fitness regimes promise maximum results in the minimum amount of time. But David Kirsch's new short-term plan is truly the "ultimate." It's specially designed for rapid weight loss and instant muscle toning--just the kind of quick-change body shaping you need when a class reunion, a family function, or swimsuit season is only weeks away. Yes, it's a high-intensity program--but when you're looking for fast results that are immediately noticeable to family and friends, it's the surest, safest makeover on the market.
The Ultimate New York Body Plan includes: The Ultimate Diet: nutritional guidelines as easy to remember as ABCDEF The Ultimate Workout: simple muscle-toning exercises and step-by-step routines in a day-by-day two-week program The Ultimate Motivation: personalized questionnaires, true life stories, and inspiring advice The Ultimate Recipe Collection: delicious healthy food that will fill you up without weighing you down The Ultimate Body Maintenance Plan: because once you see the results, you'll want them to last a lifetime
It's safe, it's simple, and it works. But best of all, David Kirsch's surgery-free methods prove that you don't need to go to "extremes" to get the kind the kind of body you've always wanted. You need only two weeks...and The Ultimate New York Body Plan.

In his second book (after Sound Body, Sound Mind), Kirsch, owner of New York City's Madison Square Club, presents an intense two-week fitness and nutrition regimen that may help people achieve the aesthetic results required for special events like a high school reunion or wedding; it is the same program that he developed for television's Extreme Makeover. While clearly written for women, it may also benefit men owing to its strict guidelines and no-nonsense presentation. For each day, Kirsch sets out five meals to be eaten between seven a.m. and seven p.m. (no alcohol, bread, carbohydrates, dairy, sweets, fruits, or fats!) and fat-burning exercises involving dumbbells, a medicine ball, and a stability ball. He emphasizes that this program is just a starting point and that a lifestyle change will be necessary to maintain results. Fitness is hard work and if done properly and safely takes time. Those who need quick results can take a chance on this book, but they should be prepared for a mental and physical challenge; those with more than two weeks to get in shape will benefit more from Kirsch's first book.
