FROM THE CRITICS
Library Journal
Released in 1963, 1962, and 1964, respectively, this trio of James Bond adventures brought the spy into the Swingin' Sixties as he was finding a second, more popular life as a screen hero with the 1962 feature film release of Dr. No, starring Sean Connery. Bond on paper is vastly different than on film: there is a lot less dependence on the cool gadgets and technology, and his character is more vulnerable. The books, however, still offer plenty of action and are genuine page-turners. The character's unending popularity will lead fans to the original source material.
