Emily's Ballet Box: A Book and Doll Set FROM OUR EDITORS
Emily was born to be a ballerina. She has dreamed of wearing a tutu all the days of her young bunny life. When Emily goes to her first official dance, she is thrilled. Her teacher, Miss Mirabelle, teaches the students to stretch their limbs and reach for the sky. Then they practice their pretending skills by acting like frogs and hopping about. Emily leaps and spins, clad in her pink ballet ensemble. Her class performs a ribbon dance, as Emily's comrades become happily entangled in reams of colorful ribbons. After a final bow, Emily is greeted by her proud mom, who praises the bunny's performance with an enthusiastic "Bravo!"
This delightful ballet box features a small edition of Emily's Dance Class and one adorable Emily plush. Wearing her pink tutu and headband, this bunny is ready to dance. Emily's legs can move, perfect for reenacting her stellar ballet steps. Everything is packaged in a reusable tote box, ideal for little ones who must carry their dancing essentials wherever they go. This wee dancing bunny is an inspiration to hopeful ballerinas everywhere.

FROM THE CRITICS
Children's Literature - Kathleen Karr
Another "play set" hits the market. This one includes a nine-inch plush bunny dressed in satin leotards and tutu, a "reusable tote box," and a book. Herein lies the problem. The bunny is cute, and the box is a box, but the book, Emily's Dance Class, could have stretched harder and farther. It's a tiny, soft-covered book with a simple plot and lots of flapping, hopping, and leaping bunnies. The general chaos probably does reproduce accurately a first dance class for kids, but the narration lacks substance. The book seems to be an afterthought to selling stuffed bunnies in tutus. Is this the level to which the children's publishing industry wishes to sink? 2001, Puffin,
