Book Description
Matter Mind Spirit brings together twelve contemporary Indiana women artists whose works blend physical, intellectual, and emotional intensity. This illustrated catalog demonstrates the range of media and techniques used by women artists in Indiana today. The artists come from all regions of Indiana and include Betsy Stirratt, Charlene Marsh, Karen Thompson, and Bonnie Sklarski.


About the Author
Jean Robertson is Adjunct Professor of Women's Studies at Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis and Assistant Professor of Art History at Herron School of Art. She is curator of the exhibition, "Matter Mind Spirit." Peg Zeglin Brand is Assistant Professor of Philosophy and Gender Studies at Indiana University, Bloomington. She is editor of Feminism and Tradition in Aesthetics. Judith Vale Newton writes about Indiana's artistic heritage. Her publications include The Hoosier Group: Five American Painters and Tradition: The Art and Artists of the Hoosier Salon, 1925-1990.
