From AudioFile Dunne cleverly creates two very different Irish families, whose lives eventually intersect amid the growing political turmoil in Belfast. Characters are appealing, and both sides are evenly portrayed, giving a depth that is often absent in historical fiction. Narrator Dearbhla Molloy captures each accent and nuance, adding her personal touch to maintain listener interest. Dunne's fine writing is enhanced by Molloy's excellent interpretation.
