Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec

FROM THE PUBLISHER

An excellent introduction to celebrated artists and their work. Full-color reproductions of the actual paintings are enhanced by Venezia's clever illustrations and story line. Young readers will look at the different paintings and see how the artists' style changed over the years. More important, the reader can enjoy a light, yet realistic overview of the life of each artist.

Henri captured on canvas the night life of Paris.

FROM THE CRITICS

Children's Literature - Jessica Deutsch

Although the shape of Toulouse Lautrec's life is somewhat uneven in this big print biography, it is recounted through alternating comic strips and copies of great works. Young readers may particularly enjoy the focus on the artists' childhood and the discovery of his emerging talent, as well as the chance to learn "terms of art" reinforced by illustrations and wonderful examples of Toulouse Lautrec's trademark posters and lithographs. The series also includes biographies of a diverse group of artists including Boticelli, Mary Cassatt, Jackson Pollock, Georgia O'Keefe and others.
