About the Author
Charles L. Thompson is a professor of counselor education and counseling psychology in the Department of Counseling, Deafness, and Human Services in the College of Education at The University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in science education and educational psychology from The University of Tennessee and his Ph.D. degree in counselor education and developmental and counseling psychology at The Ohio State University, where he held NDEA and Delta Theta Tau fellowships. Charles is a former teacher and counselor in grades 7 to 12. He holds memberships in the American Counseling Association and the American Psychological Association. He is a licensed psychologist and licensed school counselor. His research interests are in counselor education and individual counseling. Charles received the American Mental Health Counselors Association's Counselor Educator of the Year Award for 1995-96.
