About the Author
Dr. Lenore Szuchman is a developmental psychologist who earned her Ph.D. at Florida International University. As an undergraduate, Dr. Szuchman majored in comparative literature at Brandeis University, and then went on to receive an M.A. in special education from the University of Texas at Austin. Today, at Barry University, Lenore enjoys both teaching writing-intensive courses, specifically Experimental Psychology and Advanced Experimental Psychology, as well as supervising master theses and senior projects as well. In her classes students conduct experiments and write APA-style manuscripts. They also develop independent research proposals. In helping her students to make the transition from other types of college writing to the type required of scientific psychologists, Dr. Szuchman began to bring stacks of APA journals to class each week. As a result of her search for ways to train students to notice the differences between what they had been accustomed to reading and writing, and what was now expected of them, she learned of the most effective way to teach them. Another result is her students' valuable feedback that has shaped the final series of exercises in this book.
