About the Author
Austin Peterson is a TV-radio writer/producer who has worked for Young and Rubicam, Ted Bates, ABC TV, NBC Radio, the Advertising Council, and Family Theater Productions. During World War II he served as a major and as Head of Production for the Armed Forces Radio Service. In 1944, he visited all the AFRS stations in the Pacific: Honolulu, Johnston Island, Kwajalein, Eniwetok, Saipan, Guam, Tinian, Leyte, Manila (arrived there by mistake while there were still 15,000 Japanese behind the wall), Lingayan Gulf, Palau, Biak, the Admiralties, Guadalcanal, Espiritu Santo, New Guinea, and New Caledonia. That four-month trip whetted his appetite for travel and in 1960 he started writing travel guides for Pan Am on Tahiti and Her islands, Fiji, American and Western Samoa, and the Manu a Islands. Tahiti Report 2003 is his third book on Tahiti in the past three years.
