The New Atlas of Human Anatomy FROM THE PUBLISHER
This book marks the first anatomically exact and complete, three-dimensional, computer-generated reconstruction of actual human anatomy. These amazing images started with the process of digitizing thousands of cross sections of a human body in the National Library of Medicine's Visible Human Project(TM). Years of painstaking tracing and identification of the hundreds of elements revealed in each micro-section were combined with innovative computer-modeling techniques. This process comes closest to achieving the ideal of anatomical representationwhich is to recreate visually the exact forms of the body and all its parts.
The images in this book have been drawn from the dataset produced by the Visible Human Project(TM), abstracting them from the computer, rendering them on screen, then reproducing them on paper. The fundamental innovation here is that the original versions of the images represented in this book are three-dimensional ... therefore, these images permit something that has never been done before in print: producing images with incredible detail and accuracy.
