Marilu Henner's familiar voice draws you into listening to her message of optimum health with a friendly, funny, and very professional delivery. (Henner is best known for her roles in Taxi, Evening Shade, and the Broadway musical Chicago.) She starts out by proclaiming how well she feels after nine solid years on what she calls the B.E.S.T. program--balance, energy, stamina, and toxin-free. There seems to be a twinkle in her voice, which may be attributed to the fact that she feels better and has more energy (or "Hennergy," as her family likes to call it) at 45 than she did in her 20s.

Listeners might want to keep a pad and pencil handy to write down some of the more specific directions, such as the 10 steps to optimum health and the basic rules of food combining. Henner's personal eating crusade--no dairy, no meat, no refined sugar, no caffeine--may be a little extreme for some people, but she has suggestions for beginner, intermediate, and advanced health makeovers, encouraging individuals to go at their own pace. Her enthusiasm for the program and its potential results--sparkling eyes, glowing skin, and bundles of energy--are abundantly clear in this down-to-earth recording.
