Doody Review Services
Reviewer: Kent Davis, DVM, B.S. (University of Illinois Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital)Description: This book covers clinical information for veterinary technicians. The previous edition was published in 1998. Purpose: The purpose is to give veterinary technicians the clinical information they need to perform their duties in a clinical setting. The objectives are met in a professional and understandable fashion. Audience: This book is meant for certified veterinary technicians, but it also will be useful for the general practitioner to review many of the procedures used in general practice . Features: Surgical and medical procedures, hospital management, pharmacology, and anesthesia are covered very thoroughly. Many of the species seen in private practice are covered, not just dogs and cats. The technician notes, illustrations, and boxes to highlight important concepts are very good. There are plenty of photos, tables and cartoons to illustrate the topics. Assessment: This book is well planned and has a lot of useful information. The quality is very good and it would be an asset to any veterinary technician. It is very comprehensive, incorporating most of the species seen by practitioners in both large and small animal medicine. The authors are to be commended for a well thought out book for the veterinary technician.
