Doody Review Services

Reviewer: Mukesh Misra, MD (University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine)Description: This fourth edition of a five-volume text in neurological surgery is a comprehensive reference guide to the diagnosis and management of neurosurgical problems. As in the previous editions, this one reflects the changing practice and scope in neurosurgery. Purpose: The purpose is to keep pace with the fast developing and changing trends in neurological surgery. Certain chapters from the previous edition have been deleted as the techniques became obsolete, and others have been altered accordingly. More than a dozen new chapters have been added. Audience: The book, as before, has been targeted mainly for residents in neurological surgery and definitely for practicing neurological surgeons. The book also is helpful for all other paraneurosurgical branches. Features: This book in neurological surgery features most importantly a comprehensive reference guide to the diagnosis and management of neurosurgical problems. It covers the most recent developments in the field of neurological surgery. Assessment: The book is truly an important contribution in today's fast developing field of neurological surgery. The addition of the new chapters, along with deletion of those that are obsolete, makes these volumes very informative. The book definitely will help both training and practicing neurosurgeons improve and revise their knowledge in neurosurgery.
