About the Author Sax Rohmer was the pen name of Arthur Sarsfield Ward, who was born in England in 1866, the son of Irish parents. For many years, he lived in New York, where he worked as a journalist on Fleet Street before making his name as the creator of the Dr Fu Manchu thrillers. He died in 1959.
