Indeed, in the world of four-wheeling,4-Wheeler's Bible is "The Book."
Off-Road Adventures Magazine, January 2003
Veteran and novice four-wheelers alike will find a plethora of usable trail tricks in this book!
Book Description
Four-wheel drive is more than a way to climb up a snowy driveway or escape a plowed-in parking space. Pushed hard, a good 4x4 can take a competent driver to places the pavement bound masses can hardly imagine- up mountains, across streams, over boulders, through snow, mud and sand. Four-wheeling brings the freedom to leave daily toils behind and venture into the rugged wilderness. All it takes is knowledge, planning and the proper equipment. In nearly 30 years in the sport, including work as an off-road instructor for Land Rover, Jim Allen has seen it all- and from some pretty hairy angles. In the 4-Wheelers Bible, this veteran wheeler and writer provides a thorough, insightful look at the vehicles, accessories, tricks and techniques youll need to get you there and back safely. Numerous color photos, illustrations and sidebars show you what works, how it works, what to do, and what to avoid. At the back of the book is a glossary that defines the lingo of the four-wheeling world, and a list of suppliers who can help you build any rig you can imagine. Whether youve scratched and clawed your way with the best f them, or just imagined it from a comfy chair, the 4-Wheelers Bible will help you down the trail. Virtually anyone can enjoy the thrill and challenge of four-wheeling, at the wheel, as a spotter, or just along for the ride. Before you load up, read up and be prepared, no matter where the trail leads.

About the Author
After training as a U.S. Army watercraft operator and serving as a marine engineer in the closing years of the Vietnam War, Jim Allen left the Army to pursue a career in auto repair. An ASE-certified Master Tech, Allen worked on everything from Abarths to Volkswagen, but ended up as a factory trained Land Rover technician. After 20 years of twisting wrenches and ten years of part-time writing, he went full-time into the magazine biz, but took a sideline seasonal job with Land Rover as an off-highway driving instructor. He began recreational four-wheeling in 1975, when he purchased a military surplus Dodge. A succession of 4x4s has followed that tired old GI truck. Allen is the author of nearly 1,500 magazine articles and six books on four-wheeling topics. He now lives in a new house on an old farm in northwestern Ohio.
