Rumi: The Path of Love FROM THE PUBLISHER
Seven centuries after his death, Jelaluddin Rumi maintains a unique position of significance in the hearts and minds of people today. It is the deep emotional power of this extraordinary man that has made his poetry become the epitome of the romantic, passionate voice we all long to express.
This beautifully designed box contains a 128-page book and 50 lavishly illustrated cards. One side of each card depicts a glorious color illustration drawn from original Persian classical art; and on the other side there is a Rumi poem. The book includes a history of Rumi's life, and explanation of the Sufi Path of Love and interpretations of all the poems.
For the accompanying book, Manuela Dunn Mascetti has culled Kabir and Camille Helminski's translations of Rumi for the great Sufi's most sublime statements on love. In addition, she has combed the vast stores of Persian art, choosing a lush painting to accompany each poem. She has put these together in the form of cards that pique the imagination and get the mystical juices flowing. Although the cards are without question enchanting, touching, and beautiful to look at, the commentaries that Mascetti put together in book form to accompany the cards are equally profound. While commentaries on poetry or Scriptures usually favor precision over lyricism, Mascetti has obviously imbibed the spirit of Rumi, delivering succinct but lovely statements that resemble Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet in their beauty and wisdom.
