This French - English / English - French Dictionary has two main goals: to retain all the tried and tested features of its predecessor while at the same time keeping the user up to date with the constant development of language. Thus many new words and phrases have been included in this dictionary, as well as—due to its ever-increasing importance—ample material from the sphere of colloquial and familiar language.

This dictionary provides clear answers to questions on the conjugation of French verbs. The user is referred to a list of model verbs in the appendix by the reference number after each verb in the dictionary. Those forms of French irregular verbs from with tenses can be derived have separated entries.

The phonetic transcription has been given in square brackets after each French entry, using the system of the International Phonetic Association (IPA).
