There is a list of recommended reading for those who want to do further research about Singapore. Young readers who want to learn about Singapore will find this book to be helpful. 2004, Benchmark Books/Marshall Cavendish, Ages 7 to 9.

School Library Journal

Gr 4-6-These informative and balanced books cover a range of topics including geography, culture, history, and holidays. Colorful photographs show citizens engaged in everyday activities-shopping, at school, at leisure-as well as a number of urban scenes and some landscapes. Contemporary environmental and social issues are mentioned but not examined in any detail. Iraq notes that the country has been involved in "many wars" and that the country "fought with the United States again in 2003." One photo depicts buildings "damaged by war." Each book also contains a recipe, pictures of the nation's flag and currency, and two pages of fast facts. A brief glossary and "Count in" section provides pronunciation of numbers 1 to 10 in the language of the country (French for Canada). While most of the information in these volumes can be found elsewhere, these titles include some additional information. For example, Iraq mentions native musical instruments, famous Iraqis, and the Arabic alphabet along with a sidebar on Iraqi storytelling.-Taja Alkoriji, Southwest Regional Library, Pembroke Pines, FL Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information.
