About the Author Alexander Carmichael (1832-1912) collected Celtic blessings, tales, history, songs and prayers over sixty years of Gaelic travels in his six-volume masterpiece, Carmina Gadelica. Esther de Waal studied history at the Univeristy of Cambridge, and has written widely on Celtic and Benedictine spirituality. She also lectures and conducts retreats across the United States, Great Britain, and South Africa.
