FROM THE CRITICS

Aladean Attar

This book is a review of dental imaging and its techniques. The purpose is to help students learn and perfect techniques in dental imaging. The book has worthy objectives to educate students and provide information on dental imaging. I believe that the book does meet the objectives. It is very well organized and has concise pictures to aid the student. The book is targeted towards students, according to the authors, who are both on staff at the University of Texas Health Center. Illustrations are, for the most part, a great asset to the book. They help to explain many radiographic concepts. References are current and pertinent. The table of contents is adequate. The book is well organized. The book would be a great asset in the dental student's first radiology course. The book is concise and very well organized and makes it easy for the student to understand many of the principles of radiology. The illustrations are invaluable. The book would also make a good reference source for the dental professional. However, the book's authors could have devoted more space to the radiographic concepts of the MRI and CT scan. Overall, the book is a great review for the dental student and a good way to prepare for National Board exams.
