From Publishers Weekly
Infertility specialist Christopher D. Williams, M.D., counsels the "everyday, presumably fertile couple" in The Fastest Way to Get Pregnant Naturally: The Latest Information on Conceiving a Healthy Baby on Your Timetable. Two-career partners can often have a difficult time coordinating and planning what should be a joyful undertaking. Williams outlines steps to be followed, such as taking vitamins within the recommended dosages to cover deficiencies, discontinuing birth control methods within sufficient time, along with exercising and eating well. His timetable is clear and concise, and his list of sources and bibliography offer further assistance. Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information, Inc.
From Library Journal
Williams, a medical doctor specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, offers important preconceptual advice for everyone of childbearing age. He discusses how to achieve a speedy conception and explains what to do in the preconceptual and early pregnancy periods to improve the pregnancy outcome and increase the child's chances for a healthy start in life. Despite the book's title, those seeking information on natural fertility enhancement methods, such as herbal supplementation, may be disappointed. The natural methods alluded to involve working with the body's natural fertility by better understanding human reproductive physiology, and the author does recommend the use of medical technology, including hormone testing, sonograms, and vaccines. Still, this is a useful book that fills a gap in the current literature in two ways: it addresses conception for couples who do not have diagnosed medical conditions interfering with fertility, and it incorporates new research findings and information on current reproductive technology. Recommended for all public libraries. Noemie Maxwell, Seattle Midwifery Sch. Copyright 2001 Reed Business Information, Inc.
