Book Description
Treason within, war from without.

Torn asunder by the nightmares of a mad king, the elven realm of Silvanesti has nearly been restored to its former grandeur. But the elf Porthios, returning to his homeland, launches a rebellion against young Gilthas, his own nephew.

Gilthas's troubles are multiplied by threats from green dragons and from the Knights of Takhisis. Now, with Porthios at his throat, Gilthas must choose between blood and honor.

Douglas Nile's new Dragonlance novel is filled with treachery and intrigue among the elves during the Chaos War, the backdrop for The New York Times best-selling novel Dragons of Summer Flame.

The Puppet King (Dragonlance: The Chaos War Series #4)

FROM THE PUBLISHER

As war and destruction spread across Ansalon, the elven ruler Gilthas must make a fateful choice, one that could spell victory or disaster for his people. His story is chronicled by one of the "Dragonlance" setting's most well-known and respected authors.

FROM THE CRITICS

Children's Literature - Judy Silverman

This is one of the Dragonlance books, part of the "Chaos War" series. Enough said? If kids are sci-fi/fantasy buffs, they may want to add it to their must-read/must-own list. If they've never read much fantasy, this is not a good place to start. The story of "treachery and intrigue" in an elf kingdom is chock-full of elves, dwarves, dragons and semi-humans; what plot there is gets lost in the shuffle. Of course fans are different; they'll happily add it to their collection.
