From Booklist Librarians in need of a comprehensive--to say nothing of visually attractive--pictorial biography of the current British monarch need look no further. Graham is a veteran photographer of the royal family who was given relatively easy access to them, and his career spans three of the five decades of the long reign of Elizabeth II. (Early photographs of the queen appearing in this album were gathered from other sources.) Arrangement of the more than 1,000 photographs is neither hodge-podge nor strictly chronological. Chapters into which these full-color pix are appropriately and meaningfully gathered deal with topics such as the queen's travels at home, her travels abroad, her clothes and hats, royal residences, and the preparations involved in all the pageantry and ceremony that surround the queen's life. Regardless of categories and captions, the photographs document, right before our eyes, the tireless dignity with which Her Majesty has conducted herself and state business since succeeding to the throne in 1952 at the age of 25. A sumptuous tribute to her good works. Brad Hooper Copyright © American Library Association. All rights reserved
