Amelia Earhart piloted a small plane across the Atlantic Ocean in 1932. She was the first woman to make the dangerous flight alone. Born in Kansas in 1897, Earhart got her pilot's license in 1922. Breaking one aviation record after another, she soon became the most famous female flyer in the world.
