From Library Journal Bloom brings together classic examples of Moore criticismby Kenner, Borroff, Vendlerwith more recent work on this extraordinary poet. All the essays are good. Bloom's selection, however, indicates that he is not familiar with the range of recent criticism on Moore. For example, his choice of two essays by Bonnie Costello falsely suggests a paucity of material on Moore's correspondence with Elizabeth Bishop; equally excellent essays on this topic appeared in the same year as hers. Bloom's bibliography also lacks breadth, andunlike Moore'shis "omissions" seem to be "accidents" of inadequate research. Bloom's collection is useful and of high quality; it could, however, have shown what more, and more varied, "critics and connoisseurs" write about Marianne Moore.
