From Library Journal
Former Life photographer and picture editor Loengard has selected his favorites from the works of over 80 photographers published in the last 50 years. Strong, highly expressive, and mostly familiar, all these photographs appeared originally as news photosthe ordinary made extraordinary by talented photographers. The book's layout is uncrowded, the reproduction quality good, and the engaging captions an effective summation of the photographer's attitude. A brief index provides access to photographers and subjects, a useful addition as the photos are presented here in no particular order. Not a history or comprehensive survey of Life , but a fine sampling of its contribution to photojournalism. Kathleen Collins, Library of CongressCopyright 1989 Reed Business Information, Inc.
