Taken from "Muhammad Ali" In 1967, Muhammad refused to fight in the Vietnam War, and he was stripped of his boxing title. However, he returned to the ring in November, 1970. He fought Jerry Quarry and won, regaining his title and reputation. In 1971, Muhammad fought Joe Frazer and lost. It was the first fight he had lost as a champion. Muhammad and Joe fought a rematch in 1974, and this time Muhammad won. But he was still not heavyweight champion. He would have to beat George Foreman if he wanted to regain his title. George was younger and stronger, and most people expected Muhammad to lose the fight. But Muhammad used his speed to win the match in the eighth round.
