SYNOPSIS

Mengzi, or Mencius (fl. 391-308 BC) is generally recognized as the most important Confucian philosopher after the founder himself. Scholars working in the US, some clearly of Chinese heritage, present eight essays on his ideas about human nature. Three essays are reprinted from journals.
