Book Description The Right to Struggle is a selection of writings on the Armenian national question. The selections, all written between the years 1981 and 1991, were authored, either in whole or in part, by Armenian national hero, Monte Melkonian. Selections include discussions of organizational questions and strategies, interpretations of Armenian history, and observations about the Armenian diaspora. The final chapter consists of three short selections about the conflict in Mountainous Karabagh.
About the Author Monte Melkonian, a third-generation Central Californian, was a trained archaeologist who spoke eight languages. He left the country of his birth at an early age, to participate in the Iranian revolution, the defense of the Armenian community in Lebanon, the guerrilla resistance in mountainous Kurdistan and the combined Lebanese-Palestinian anti-Zionist resistance. Because of his activities as an Armenian militant, he spent years living underground and in prison. From 1990 until his death in battle on June 12, 1993, Melkonian lead thousands of mountaineers to one victory after another against a better-equipped and more numerous enemy in one of the most vicious wars raging on the ruins of the former Soviet Union.
