Baskets: A Book for Makers and Collectors

FROM THE PUBLISHER

An art form of wonderful variety and beauty, basket-making allows artists to work in a range of styles, sizes, colors and techniques almost without limit. Celebrated artist Billie Ruth Sudduth offers inspiration and instruction on her beloved craft. She begins with the fundamentals: tools and materials, basic techniques, and dyes and dyeing. She continues with gorgeous sample projects, each introducing a different basket making process: plaiting, ribbed construction, twined and braided construction, twill weaving, and surface embellishments.

About the Author:

Billie Ruth Sudduth has a passion for baskets as a teacher, weaver and collector. Her works are included in the collections of the Smithsonian Institution and the American Craft Museum. In 1997, she was named a "living treasure" by her home state of North Carolina.
