Book Description Steve Perry is thought provoking in his novel, The Window Pain. He captures the essence and power of a decision. He also explores falling in and out of love and then wraps it in 1980s Philadelphia. Served over smoldering emotions and self-discovery, the author's lyrical cadence makes the book a literary delight. The story twists and turns, beginning as Tarique grows out from under the yoke of domestic violence. While it moves through Tarique and Shandell's coming of age, it clutches tightly to reality. Hindsight is injected to explain why Bria falls in love with Tarique, but it is too late to prepare us for the surprises that await us in every chapter. With one more masterful twist, it halts, leaving us wondering how we got there.
About the Author The fire that started in the heart of Steve Perry as a child born to a teen mother, living in public housing still rages on in him as a man who founded and currently directs and organization that prepares low-income high school students for college. Steve Perry's commitment to the community began long before he received his Masters In Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania. Even as an undergraduate, he proved that here is more than one road to take to empower the community. Whether working for a US Senator, mayor or presidential candidate as an undergraduate at the University of Rhode Island, or later while serving as director of a homeless shelter, Steve has explored many facets of empowerment. Perry's commitment and success have not gone unnoticed. He has received several state and regional awards for causes ranging from promoting educational access to low-income students to fighting all forms of secual violence. He is a 1995 TRIO Achiever and was given the Connecticut Student Leadership Award. Steve Perry has been a candidate for state representative and an adjunct professor, while at the same time serving on numerous regional and local boards.
