Book Description
Hold onto your bootstraps folks! If you liked Erin Brockovich, youll be thoroughly intrigued with the adventures of these two sisters, their knack for investigative work and their fascinating family in Texas. This is a stirring, humorous and unconventional "true story" about their epics and the Texas Justice System. Sydney and her sister Heather will take you on a gut wrenching, nerve racking, emotional roller coaster ride that occurs after their father dies and their stepmother produces a suspicious Last Will and Testament that leaves the stepmother the entire estate. As they face their fathers death, an evil stepmother, and a tainted legal system, they introduce themselves to many people along the way while searching for missing pieces of the family puzzle. What they discover makes them question everything they once thought was real. Is their father the man they think he is? How was he able to buy all the guns, diamonds, land and mineral rights that he owned? How involved was he in the gambling and prostitution rings along the Galveston Bay? Were his connections to George Bush, Lyndon Johnson, Lady Bird and Joe Bonanno much deeper than they seemed? Was he truly involved in the JFK assassination? What they learn about their stepmother Betty is devastating. How did the town whore come to marry their father the Police Chief? Did she kill her only brother and forge her own fathers Will too? Just how many accomplices does she have? Are some of them their own brothers and sister? What their forensic document expert, Mrs. Higgins, discovers will send chills up and down your spine.

About the Author
From as early as the founding of America, Sydney Newman Dotson's family has been blessed with a long line of judges, sheriffs, law enforcement officers and military officers including 2nd Lt. John Campbell who fought with General George Washington at Valley Forge, and General George Armstrong Custer who died at the Little Big Horn. During the days of Annie Oakley in the 1800s, Sydneys great-great grandmother served as her husbands deputy, rode a horse and wore guns. Sydneys father, a Chief of Police and Deputy Sheriff in the State of Texas, was a fifth generation law enforcement officer and big influence in her life. This strong ethical family upbringing inspired Sydney to write this book. After graduating from The University of Texas at Dallas with a Cum Laude Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, Sydney planned to follow in her fathers law enforcement footsteps, or boots. When her father learned this was her goal, he advised her to pursue a more lucrative and less dangerous investigative career outside of law enforcement. She followed his excellent advice and found it to be everything he said it would be, and more. Sydney has over 20 years of corporate strategy, sales and marketing experience with such companies as EDS, GTE, Compaq and IBM. As IBMs first Director of Corporate Business Intelligence in 1994, Sydney created this new division and several new functions including IBM's Global Business Intelligence Network, Global Market View, IBM Competitor Alert Newsletter and IBMs Field Intelligence Posse. Sydney and her husband live in Dallas, Texas where she is an author and business consultant today.

"I wont let you get away with it, Wes! Do you hear me? I wont let you get away with it!" A woman screams at the top of her lungs. As Justin and Vic Newman step out of the hospital elevator, they hear the womans fit of rage. They turn the corner and are shocked to find the commotion is coming from their stepmother, Betty. "I cant believe you did this! I wont let you get away with it, Wes! I wont!" she screams again. The thin womans hair is dyed black and shes wearing a fashionable black dress and heels. She beats her fists on the plate glass window to her husbands germ-free room, violently shakes her finger at him and yells, "I wont let you get away with it!" Wes Newman, 75 years old, lies in the hospital bed on the other side of the glass window. Once a strong, tall, blonde rancher and Deputy Sheriff, he is now weak, pale and gray. A week earlier Wes learned he has acute leukemia and may not survive the trip from Longview to M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. Hes embarrassed his wife is making a fool of herself in public, and theres nothing he can do to stop her. As Betty yells, paces back and forth, and beats on the glass window, he stares up at the ceiling, shakes his head and tries to ignore her. She spots Justin and Vic coming down the hallway, and runs to meet them. They can see their stepmother is definitely upset about something and is now headed in their direction. Shaking her finger at them, she glares and yells, "Im not going to let him get away with it! Do you hear me? I cant believe he did this! He did it behind my back!" Gasping for breath, she continues to unload on them. "He sent me into town to have tires put on the car so I wouldnt know he was making his Will! He thought I wouldnt find out about it, but I did! I came home and found him there with attorneys and witnessing attorneys, and your Aunt Sally was there too! Oh, I could just kill him! Im not going to let him get away with this! Do you hear me? Im not!" Justin and Vic glance at each other with raised eyebrows but dont speak. Their father warned his six children several times that Betty would put them through hell and try to get everything he owns when he dies. The two brothers know one thing for sure whatever their father put in his Will that caused her to throw this fit was put in it to protect them from her. Without any warning, she lashes out at them again. "And dont you dare bring your mother up here to see him! I wont stand for it! Jean better not come up here, do you hear me?" "Im going to call Mom," Vic whispers to his brother. He turns and heads back down the hallway to find a pay phone. Justin is rendered speechless by Bettys fury aimed at his ailing father as his brother leaves him standing there alone. The outrage toward his mother is boggling and makes his mind spin. Is Betty jealous of Mom after all these years? Or did Dad leave Mom something in his Will? Their divorce would never have occurred if Mom hadnt discovered Dads affair with Betty and divorced him. Dad was happy the way things were. Justin finds the glass window to Wes room and tries not to cry when his father sees him. Wes quickly picks up the phone on a stand by his bed and motions for Justin to pick up the phone on the other side of the plate glass window. Justin picks it up and speaks first.
