About the Author
Charles Haddon Spurgeon served for thirty years as preacher and pastor of London's six-thousand-seat Metropolitan Tabernacle, which his growing congregation opened in 1861. His writings, including thousands of sermons, are still popular with pastors and devotional readers who, like him, treasure the gospel of God's grace.
Morning and Evening: Based on the New International Version FROM THE PUBLISHER
Charles Haddon Spurgeon's classic Morning and Evening collection of daily devotionals was written in England more than a century ago. For generations, its cherished gems of daily strength and meditation inspired millions. However, in recent times, its archaic words, English spellings, and 19th-century expressions had become a barrier to many of today's readers and had obscured the vitality of this magnificent volume. In this new revised and updated version, Spurgeon's work is returned to its former brilliance and polish. The language has been remarkably updated without losing Spurgeon's knack for writing the well-turned phrase with well-chosen words. His themes emerge as fresh and relevant to our day as they were in his day. Urban poverty, troubling foreign political events, the role of church and state, troubling developments in public education - these issues were as much in his thoughts and prayers as they are in ours today. Morning and Evening offers two devotionals a day that will take you on an inspirational, year-long journey through every part of God's Word. It's a work that stands ready to help in your daily walk of faith in a language that a new generation can understand.
