Another Chance To Get It Right FROM THE PUBLISHER
Biology does not make a man a father nor a woman a mother. We are what we do. That's the underlying theme of the twelve short stories that comprise the graphic story album Another Chance to Get It Right. Author Andrew Vachss places you on a battlefield in Africa, your only living companion a boy patiently waiting to be killed; on the roof of an old tenement building, strapped into a renovated packing crate that's flying two children across the cosmos; within the courtroom nightmare of an abused little girl; and once again on the tightrope between adolescence and adulthood. And after all the stories are told, he asks you to remember what children are: another chance for our flawed species. Another chance to get it right.
SYNOPSIS
Another Chance to Get it Right debuted in 1993 on The Oprah
Winfrey Show, Dark Horse was deluged with phone calls as people clamored to buy
the book. Now, nearly a decade later, Dark Horse is proud to offer an updated
edition of the acclaimed collection of short stories, poetry, and allegory. This
new edition boasts an all-new, never before published Vachss-penned prose story
called "La Corazᄑn del Niᄑos," along with illustrations and a magnificent new
cover by Geofrey Darrow (conceptual designer for the motion pictures The Matrix I, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions). The beautiful drawings add a different dimension to this
celebration of the potential of parenting, a dimension that's rarely seen in the
genre, making it as much inspirational as it is instructional.
