From Booklist
This pictorial includes a DVD, making it an exciting multimedia slice of American sports and well worth its very reasonable price. In Unhittable, baseball pitchers take center stage as they recall their most memorable games on the mound. Box scores and stats accompany each game summary, which helps emphasize how little baseball has changed (the stats for John Lee Richmond's perfect game in 1880 look remarkably similar to those for David Cone's perfect outing in 1999). Fans will love the DVD of this one: it's one thing to read about Don Larsen's perfect game in the 1956 World Series but quite another to watch Yogi Berra leap in the pitcher's arms after the final strikeout. Book Description
Nothing in baseball keeps fans on the edge of their seats like a magical pitching performance. The anticipation of a no-hitter is unlike any other emotion in sports, and the realization of such a feat can be a life-altering moment. Unhittable: Reliving the Magic and Drama of Baseball’s Best-Pitched Games accurately reenacts the roller-coaster rides that have made up the game’s most memorable pitching performances of all time. From Cy Young to Randy Johnson, Johnny Vander Meer to Don Larsen, Ernie Shore to Harvey Haddix, every historically significant and emotionally gut-wrenching moment is captured in this visually stimulating book and multiplatform DVD package.

From the Inside Flap
If life, as someone has said, is a metaphor for baseball, then baseball itself stands in the same relation to the craft of pitching. Pitching is not only the heart and soul of the game—it is also the nerve center of all the action. The pitcher’s mound is the center of the baseball diamond, and a new future of unlimited possibilities is created with every pitch. Nothing captures the connection between fans and baseball like the dramatic energy of a no-hitter or a perfect game. Fans don’t blink. Players don’t talk. History never forgets. In Unhittable: Reliving the Magic and Drama of Baseball’s Best-Pitched Games, readers will be taken on a journey through all the greatest and most dramatic performances by pitchers in the history of baseball—the perfect games, the near-misses, the no-hitters, the 20-strikeout games, and the courageous clutch performances that were the building blocks of Hall of Fame careers. Officially licensed by Major League Baseball, and including a full 55-minute original DVD program produced by MLB, Unhittable includes features from the game’s first-ever pitching gems thrown more than a century ago, explores the pitching feats of baseball’s golden era, and showcases modern pitching masterpieces, including 40-year-old Randy Johnson’s perfect game in the spring of 2004. Pitching icons such as Nolan Ryan, Bob Gibson, Tom Seaver, and Ron Guidry identify the most memorable games of their careers, and classic moments from Cy Young, Walter Johnson, Carl Hubbell, Bob Feller, Sandy Koufax, and Roger Clemens are also vividly recaptured. Johnny Vander Meer’s incredible back-to-back no-hitters are chronicled in this beautifully designed and richly illustrated book, as is Don Larsen’s perfect World Series game and other amazing performances from the Fall Classic. The greatest pitching duels and unforgettable All-Star moments are among the amazing feats described, alongside sections on agonizing near misses and dominating relief pitchers from yesterday and today. Packaged together with MLB’s action-packed DVD, Unhittable is as riveting a tribute to the men on the mound as has ever been created.
