Descriptive Bibliography of the Primary Publications of Charles Bukowski FROM THE PUBLISHER
This scholarly study provides an updated, corrected and comprehensive overview of the poet's book, chapbook and broadside publications from 1948 through 1998. The bibliography utilizes the methodology developed by Donald Gallup for his landmark bibliographies of T.S. Eliot and Ezra Pound. The full entries for over 150 primary items include title-page transcriptions, collations and full publishing histories.
Charles Bukowski was the author of six novels and many books of stories and poems. In addition, he was the author of scores of obscure chapbooks and broadsides published by small presses. Many of these fugitive publications have never been properly documented and remain relatively unknown. This bibliography describes all of them in full detail for the first time.
FROM THE CRITICS
Booknews
Krumhansl is in the book trade, and is more concerned with the books as physical artifacts than the content or deep meaning (if any) of work by the iconoclastic contemporary American writer. He focuses on books, chapbooks, and broadsides in English written exclusively by Bukowski, but does include some articles and joint works of historical importance. The information includes pagination, size and nature of binding, publication price and date, and number of copies. Monochrome facsimiles of most of the covers are included. This edition is printed in 750 copies, with another 376 in a deluxe edition. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
