About the Author
Fred Harris and Byron Belitsos are long-time students of The Urantia Book and were participants in the Teaching Mission from its inception in 1992. Harris is an attorney and father of two; Belitsos is the publisher of Origin Press and is an author, journalist, and poet.

About the Authors:

Fred Harris is a principal with Greenberg Traurig, one of the largest law firms in the Southeast. He lives in Tallahassee, Florida with his wife (also a lawyer) of 23 years and their two children, Riley and Katie. He was educated at Auburn University, Stetson University College of Law, and the University of Florida.

With this kind of background, it may be surprising that Fred was open to any spiritual path, much less an unconventional one. He was first introduced to The Urantia Book in 1987 by one of his clients, a young and charismatic musician, who required that he read this strange book as a condition of hiring him as his lawyer. Later the same young musician introduced him to the Teaching Mission; it was at this point that Harris graduated from the lofty intellectual teachings of the Urantia Revelation to the practical aspects of walking a daily spiritual path with lessons from celestial teachers.

Harris is founder of Mind, Body & Spirit, Inc., a nonprofit corporation which receives all the royalties from The Center Within. MB&S intends to establish a nondenominational spiritual center surrounded by a residential community of seekers.

Byron Belitsos resides in San Rafael, California, and is the owner of Origin Press and of the popular website www.IntegralSpirit.com. He has a B.A. from the University of Chicago in intellectual history, and has done graduate work in the history of consciousness and religious studies at the University of California (Santa Cruz and Berkeley campuses), and at the California Institute of Integral Studies. He was also a student of the Tibetan teacher Chogyam Trungpa Rimpoche and studied poetics with Allen Ginsberg at Naropa Institute in Boulder, Colorado. Byron has been a student of The Urantia Book for 25 years, and has written extensively on it. His forthcoming book based on the Urantia revelation is titled Soulful Cosmos: Essays on Integral Spirituality.

Byron has had a varied career as a businessman, teacher, author, and journalist. He has taught English at the college level, and was a senior journalist covering the computer industry in Silicon Valley. In 1986 he co-authored Business Telecommunications, a textbook that was widely used in business schools throughout the country. He also cofounded DCA, Inc., a highly successful telecommunications software company. His introduction to the Teaching Mission in 1992 changed his life-and his understanding of the Urantia revelation-in ways he is still coming to understand.
