FROM THE CRITICS
Library Journal
Anyone familiar with Wolf's previous seven volumes in the "Splash" series might expect the concept to have played out by now. Instead, Wolf has come up with another winning book, one as exciting as the others. Each is a showcase of about 100 artists grouped around a single subject, whether portraiture, marine painting, or the use of light. For this volume, top artists were asked to contribute the pivotal discoveries they've made in their careers as watercolorists. These include Joseph Alleman's belief that a "breakthrough painting" can be achieved by a fine balance between realism and a free style and Marlene Paul's exciting use of transparent fluid acrylics. Like others in the series, this volume is aimed at the advanced artist and is highly recommended. Copyright 2004 Reed Business Information.
