SYNOPSIS

Contained in volume 4 of this projected eight-volume set: Transmission of Light, Unlocking the Zen Koan, Original Face, Timeless Spring, Zen Antics, Record of Things Heard, and Sleepless Nights. Cleary is a scholar of East Asian languages who has translated over 50 volumes of Buddhist, Taoist, Confucian, and Islamic texts from Sanskrit, Chinese, Japanese, Pali, and Arabic. He provides an introduction to each work; and on some he includes an afterword, a glossary, further readings, or other supplementary material. This material was published over a 20-year period.
