FROM THE CRITICS
Library Journal
What a good idea-a manual that combines finishing techniques for crochet, embroidery, knitting, knotting, and weaving into one volume. After all, all these needlework techniques require finishing, and a decorative edging for a crocheted garment, for example, might look equally smashing on a knitted piece. Edges, seams and joins, braids, cords and trimmings, embroidery embellishments, closures, buttonholes, pressing, and darning are the major finishing techniques covered. Each is described in detail and illustrated with both drawings and photographs. An alphabetical index and two tables of contents-one by type of finishing technique (edgings, seams, etc.) and the other by subject (knitting, weaving, etc.)-make it easy to find information. This compendium will be a welcome addition to public library collections both large and small. Copyright 2003 Reed Business Information.
