These are two solid additions to the "Vogue Knitting on the Go!" series. Caps & Hats Two includes a variety of hat styles for all levels of knitting expertise-22 in all, each with a full-color photo of the finished hat, complete step-by-step instructions, a materials list, charts, and skill rating. A furry Scottie dog hat for girls will tempt the intermediate knitter, while the beautiful "Alpine Miss" Fair Isle cap with braided trim will interest the experienced knitter. Weekend Knits consists of 21 patterns, most using big needles and chunky yarns. Teenagers will enjoy making and wearing the "Graphic Artist" tank top. It is knitted with a rayon/ nylon yarn and, once finished, is painted with a special gel to create a tie-dye-type pattern. Public libraries where the other volumes in this series are popular should consider adding these, too, especially at this modest price. If you can only purchase one, Weekend Knits may be the better choice, as it includes a greater variety of projects, among them purses, vests, sweaters, socks, hats, mittens, and scarves.
