Cuniberti FROM THE PUBLISHER
Pier Achille (Pirro) Cuniberti, a prominent figure in postwar Italian art, was born in Bologna in 1923. A student of Giorgio Morandi and Giovanni Romagnoli, he graduated from the Bologna Academy of Fine Arts in 1948. At the Venice Biennial that same year he discovered Paul Klee, who became, from that moment on, the reference for his concept of form as infinite creative genesis. Cuniberti's work, bred on a sensible, constant diet of drawing, is divided into consecutive painterly periods that culminate with his very personal works on masonite, which have been his unmistakable hallmark since 1979. To celebrate his eightieth birthday, this book brings together a selection of his works dating from 1948 to 2003.
