Hearts and Minds in Guerrilla Warfare (Regionalism and Reginal Security Series): The Malayan Emergency 1948-1960 FROM THE PUBLISHER
This study provides an account of the origins, course, and outcome of the Malayan Emergency which pitted the Malayan Government against the Malayan Communist Party, its rural-based guerrilla army, and their supporters. Drawing on the widest set of sources used to date, the study goes well beyond traditional analyses of the Emergency and examines not just the military but also the administrative, economic, political, and social aspects of the guerrilla war.
SYNOPSIS
Stubbs (political science, McMasters U., Canada) describes the Malayan government's approach to combating the Malayan Communist Party. The first edition was published by Oxford University Press in 1989, and is reprinted here to provide a model against which to measure proclamations of the same approach in Palestine and Iraq, and to provide what he considers a proper context in which to read the recently published autobiography of Malayan guerrilla Chin Peng.
